Each year, more than 340,000 animals in California shelters lack access to essential veterinary care, including timely spay and neuter surgeries. The UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine is addressing this critical gap with a new Spay and Neuter Clinic, designed to dramatically expand access to affordable, high-quality care while enriching hands-on training for students and professionals. Faculty mentor and teach veterinary care providers in local communities, multiplying the impact. Veterinary students gain hands-on experience that strengthens their skills while improving health outcomes for animals in need.

Paving the Way
Dedicated entirely to spay and neuter surgeries, our high-quality, high-volume, and low-cost clinic will increase care for more dogs and cats, expand training opportunities for students and professionals, and strengthen partnerships with shelters and rescues.
Building upon the success of our Community Surgery Service and its 20+ partners across Northern California, the clinic will directly address pet overpopulation and reduce the need for euthanasia, creating healthier communities for the animals and people who care for them.
