Leading the Fight Against Cancer

Cancer affects an estimated one in four dogs and one in five cats. Bringing the most advanced treatments together with leading-edge research and clinical trials, the Veterinary Cancer Center (VCC) will set the standard for preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer in all animals.

Bringing together the best people, from multiple disciplines,  state-of-the-art equipment and clinical spaces will enhance cancer care, while giving patients early access to groundbreaking clinical trials.

The VCC’s translational research focus also supports human health. By collaborating with UC Davis Health, and other cancer center researchers and clinicians, we gain cross-species insights that can accelerate progress for all.

UC Davis Veterinary Medicine is at the forefront of discovery. The new center will:

  • Enable us to treat more patients with innovative approaches such as immunotherapy, radiosurgery, radiotherapy, and computerized treatment planning.
  • Expand clinical trials program.
  • Deepen collaboration with the UC Davis NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center, and other cancer centers across the nation.
  • Facilitate research and treatments that benefit both humans and animals.
  • Advance understanding of companion animal tumors and the links between longevity, aging, environmental exposures, and cancer.
