By 2030, studies project a shortfall of 2,000 veterinarians in California’s companion animal sector. There is also a growing deficit in equine and livestock veterinarians, who are critical to the nation’s economy. Based on current accreditation standards, the school’s Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) student capacity is currently maxed out, but with additional facilities, the school can increase DVM programs by 33% and residency programs by 35%.
The Veterinary Education Pavilion and Welcome Center forms the foundation of our vision to meet this urgent need.

A Flexible Hub for Learning
The pavilion will be a multipurpose, flexible classroom space that doubles as an event space. It will serve as an educational hub for our summer enrichment programs, veterinary camps, and pathway programs.
Adjacent to the envisioned outdoor Raptor Center education exhibits, the pavilion will include a gallery and information center for elementary to high school student field trips. It will be the first stop for many young learners who may one day become veterinarians themselves.
Why It Matters
Expanding veterinary care isn’t just a problem for pet owners – it’s a challenge that affects us all in different ways, from seeking care for a beloved pet, to understanding the impacts of a disease that threatens our livestock. Veterinary health matters.
Creating new educational spaces that allow us to educate and train more veterinary students translates to a future where veterinary health is limitless.
